Dear London Families,

Next Wednesday, August 17th, buses will be rolling and our schools will begin to fill with students for the first day of classes. As with every new school year, the first day of school will be met with anxious anticipation as students, teachers, and parents alike gear up for what hopefully will be a memorable year. As a long-time educator, there is simply nothing like the beginning of the school year to renew optimism for our district and the passion to serve our students.

This school year will be another step toward normalcy and will begin without the pandemic orders which were in place at the beginning of the last two school years. Although this is the case, the district will continue to focus on ensuring common locations and surfaces are disinfected effectively, maximize fresh air flow into our schools through our HVAC systems, and provide supplies like hand sanitizer in every building to help protect our students and staff. Families are still encouraged to take whatever precautions they feel are necessary for their students, but most importantly, please help by keeping sick children at home.

Our district was proud to provide in-person learning throughout the 2021-2022 school year and fully expects to continue doing so this year. The only barrier to doing so will be the availability of staff. With substitute teacher and bus driving shortages expected to continue this year, we will be keeping a close eye on our staffing levels throughout the year (Last year, the district canceled school for two days in January due to a lack of available staff). Those families interested in a hybrid or virtual education may continue to take advantage of the district’s London Unlimited program by enrolling now and at the beginning of the second semester.

I hope you all have a fantastic start to the school year. If I can be of any assistance to you or your family or if I can answer a question about the district, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lou Kramer

District Superintendent
