In the Spring of 2019, the London City School District published its Portrait of a Graduate, which highlights the key skills and attitudes necessary for district graduates to have success in college and careers. Our district uses the Portrait of a Graduate to help design meaningful teaching and learning experiences for our students.
The following students were recognized during the December Regular Board of Education meeting for substantially demonstrating the district’s Portrait of a Graduate.
Congratulations to each of these students!
Nora Clevenger (1st Grade) - London Elementary School
Nora is a shining example of what it means to be Future Ready. Her character, kindness, and work ethic reflect the qualities we hope to see in every Red Raider.
In Miss Abbott’s classroom, Nora makes an impact every single day. As her teacher shared, “Nora is wonderfully helpful and consistently goes above and beyond to support both her classmates and me. She is an amazing friend to every student and treats everyone with kindness, understanding, and respect.” It’s common for other staff members to notice her compassion in the hallway or lunchroom and take a moment to celebrate her thoughtful actions.
Academically, Nora arrives each day ready to learn. She works hard, stays focused, and asks meaningful questions that show her commitment to truly understanding new concepts. Her dedication to growth sets a strong example for her peers.
Nora also demonstrates natural leadership. Whether she is helping a classmate, stepping up in the classroom, or modeling positive behavior, she leads with integrity and empathy. She lives the Golden Rule, making others feel valued, included, and supported.
For all these reasons, Nora embodies the values of the Portrait of a Graduate. She is compassionate, responsible, respectful, and driven—and there is no doubt she is Future Ready.
Olive Pickett (7th grade) - London Middle School
London Middle School is happy to recognize Olive Pickett, a student who stands out for her hard work, positive attitude, creativity, and genuine compassion.
Olive has built a strong academic foundation, consistently earning Merit Honor Roll status while taking honors math and ELA in both sixth and seventh grade. Her teachers describe her as organized, reflective, and always eager to grow. These strengths helped her earn first place in the 2025–2026 Patriots’ Pen Writing Competition, an accomplishment that highlights her writing talent and the strong academic habits she has developed through dedication and perseverance. Her success demonstrates not only her literacy skills but also her ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
As a critical and creative thinker, Olive stands out among her peers. ELA teacher Mrs. Hunter notes her curiosity, thoughtful questions, and willingness to explore new perspectives. Science teacher Mr. Ulrey shares that she “thinks outside the box” and often helps classmates grasp challenging concepts. Music teacher Mr. Freeman adds that Olive is a positive role model who eagerly volunteers to help and shows genuine excitement for learning. In music, her creativity shines through—adding harmonies, learning by ear, and continually seeking to improve. Her teachers agree that she approaches every subject with insight, determination, and a desire to grow.
Olive’s character is just as impressive. She consistently treats others with kindness and sincerity. One memorable example occurred in sixth grade when she placed second in a robotics competition but received a first-place medal because supplies ran short. Olive still tells people she earned second place—an honest, humble reflection of who she is. Her teachers often mention her gentle spirit, positive presence, and ability to make everyone feel valued.
Her involvement in band, volleyball, church groups, and mentoring younger children demonstrates her flexibility and adaptability. Olive balances schoolwork, service, and activities with ease, always willing to help, adjust, and step into new opportunities.
Olive Pickett truly embodies London City Schools’ Portrait of a Graduate. Truly a student who stands out for her hard work, positive attitude, creativity, and genuine compassion.
