Following graduation, Sydney plans to attend a four-year university before pursuing medical school with aspirations of becoming a neurologist.
Inspiration in the Community
When asked about an educator who inspired her, Sydney highlighted former London staff member and track coach Joseph Montoya.
"He was the most uplifting, hardworking man I ever met. He motivates people to push their limits and was someone I sought out when I had questions concerning personal life problems and my faith. While he recently left the school to pursue his businesses, he was a beloved mentor for many of my peers and helped define who I am both as a Christian and as an athlete."
Reflecting on Her Education
Sydney notes that the most impactful part of her schooling in London has been the diverse community.
"While the education has been excellent, the students around me truly formed my understanding of the world. I have heard so many life stories, witnessed the perseverance of so many peers, and gained a true grasp on what the real world will be like."
A Message to Adults
Sydney hopes adults recognize the deep ambition driving today's youth.
"While it may seem we are constantly busy and not focused on our futures, I have met incredibly impressive peers through experiences like the OSU Neuroscience Camp and the HOBY seminar. Their passion inspires me to achieve more and make a difference. While technology has expanded the generational gap, both groups benefit when working together. The wisdom adults share combined with the imaginative minds of youth is limitless."
