Another busy week for London athletics featured strong performances on the courts, track, and diamond, highlighted by dominant tennis wins and standout efforts at the Cedarville Invitational.
🎾 Tennis
London’s tennis team put together an impressive undefeated week, showcasing consistency and control in every match. The Red Raiders opened with a commanding 5-0 sweep over West Jefferson, followed by another shutout victory against Northwestern, 3-0. They capped the week with a solid 4-1 win over New Hope Christian, continuing their strong early-season momentum.
⚾ Baseball
The baseball squad experienced a mix of results throughout the week. London fell to Jonathan Alder on the road, 13-7, and again later in the week at home, 8-0. However, the team bounced back in a big way on Friday with a dominant 6-0 shutout victory over North Union, showing resilience and growth as the week progressed.
🥎 Softball
It was a tough stretch for the softball team despite some exciting moments. The Red Raiders dropped close contests to Jonathan Alder (9-8 and 10-3) and North Union (9-8). One of the week’s highlights came in the North Union game when Lyllian Ball delivered a clutch home run late to extend the game, demonstrating determination and fight from the squad.
🏃 Track & Field
London’s track and field teams delivered standout performances across two meets. At Teays Valley, Terrell Butts captured first place in the 110-meter hurdles, while the boys’ 4x100 relay team also took first. Ashley Nolan (800m) and Rachel Jackman (1600m) each earned second-place finishes, and the girls’ 4x200 relay team brought home a victory.
The momentum continued at the Cedarville Invitational with several top finishes. Cameron Carn claimed first in the 800-meter run, while Stevie Gravely placed second in the 100-meter dash. The boys dominated relay events, winning both the 4x100 and 4x800 relays. Blake Reay soared to first in the long jump, and Lily Lohrer had an outstanding day, winning both the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. The girls’ 4x100 relay team also secured a first-place finish, capping off an excellent showing for the program.
🏈 Girls Flag Football
The girls' flag football team continued its inaugural campaign with a close battle against Whitehall Yearling. They lost 19-18, but left it all out on the field! The girls will finish up a strong first regular season on Sunday, 4/19, playing both Tree of Life and Columbus School for Girls.
