A Cameron

The London Rotary Club is proud to recognize Adalyn Cameron, an exceptional senior at London High School, as the April Student of the Month. Adalyn exemplifies academic excellence, strong leadership, and outstanding character, qualities that make her a standout choice for this prestigious honor.

A dedicated and high-achieving student, Adalyn boasts an impressive 4.155 GPA and ranks 9th in her class. Her passion for learning, especially in English, sets her apart. She has been a consistent presence on the merit honor roll.

Adalyn has been an active member of London High School. In addition to her presence on the Merit Honor Roll, Adalyn has been the recipient of the Adaptability Award, Dean’s List for four semesters, London’s representative to the Zonta Club of Columbus Scholarship program, and Student of the Month her senior year. Adalyn’s extracurricular activities include working 30 hours per week at Walmart for two months, her internship at Champions daycare since August for 30 hours a week, her second internship for a program called ONCE to help kindergartens learn to read two hours a week for a month, Vice President of Student Council, and secretary of the senior class.

When asked to reflect on an educator who has significantly influenced her, Adalyn named London High School English Teacher, Mrs. Michelle Sambas. Adalyn shared:

“Mrs. Sambas is an inspiration to me because she is the one teacher who has been there for me consistently. She outlines what I want to be like as a teacher after college. She cares for all her students and goes the extra mile to make sure I understand and always makes sure that I'm okay. Over my four years in college and high school, I have changed plenty, but she has always treated me the same. She gives me the best advice and outlooks right when I need them, and she always knows if anything's going on. She is the best teacher I have ever had.”

Mrs. Sambas, in turn, offered glowing praise for Adalyn:

“Adalyn is a remarkably strong young woman. She has impressed me these past two years in my college credit English courses with her hard work and determination. She has worked diligently to meet and exceed expectations in class, and this has helped her to grow as a student and as a young adult. These traits, combined with Adalyn's heart and compassion, will help her to become an amazing educator. I'm very excited to see where Adalyn goes in life and look forward to her success!”

After graduation, Adalyn intends to go to Wright State University to get a degree in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Cory Cameron and Brandy McCombs of London.
