March POE Honorees

In the Spring of 2019, the London City School District published its Portrait of a Graduate, which highlights the key skills and attitudes necessary for district graduates to have success in college and careers. Our district uses the Portrait of a Graduate to help design meaningful teaching and learning experiences for our students. Similarly, during the Spring of 2022, the London City School District worked to identify and publish the most valued skills and dispositions that educators should demonstrate daily to help prepare our students to be future-ready. These skills include:

  • Effective Communication,

  • Focused on Relationship-Building,

  • Being Flexible and Adaptable,

  • Demonstrating High Integrity; and,

  • Being a role model for Life-Long Learning.

The following individuals have been recognized during the March 2026 Regular Board of Education meeting for substantially demonstrating the district’s Portrait of an Educator traits.

Jennifer Jordan, London Preschool Secretary

Jennifer Jordan, Preschool Secretary at London Preschool, is being recognized by the London City Schools Board of Education for exemplifying the district’s Portrait of an Educator through her flexibility, integrity, and commitment to students, families, and staff. Whether answering phones, greeting families, assisting classrooms, or supporting a student who needs care, Jennifer approaches every task with a genuine smile and a solutions-focused mindset. She joined London City Schools six years ago and previously served as a paraprofessional in a K–2 special education resource room at London Elementary, where she demonstrated patience, compassion, and professionalism while supporting some of the district’s most vulnerable learners. This year, she successfully transitioned to the role of preschool secretary, quickly learning new systems and building strong relationships throughout the preschool community.

Jennifer is known for her ability to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Families appreciate her kindness and willingness to go above and beyond to help, while students are consistently greeted with encouragement and care. Staff members rely on her for support, collaboration, and a positive presence that helps create a welcoming environment. Her ability to move seamlessly between responsibilities—serving families in the office, assisting classrooms, and supporting staff across the building—demonstrates both her adaptability and strong work ethic.

Beyond her daily responsibilities, Jennifer looks for ways to positively impact students. She launched the Girls on the Run program for grades 3–5 at London Elementary, helping students build confidence and healthy habits through exercise and life lessons, culminating in a 5K in downtown Columbus. During the summer, she volunteers with Tiger Cub Camp through the Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Jennifer Jordan’s dedication, integrity, and heart for students make her an invaluable member of London City Schools and a true champion for student success.

Amy Neal, District Bus Driver

Amy Neal, driver of Bus 13 (Frog), has been a valued member of the London City Schools transportation team since 2018. She plays an important role in students’ daily routines, creating a safe, welcoming environment where students feel respected and supported. Through effective communication and a strong focus on relationship-building, Amy helps ensure that each student begins and ends their school day on a positive note.

Amy is also known for her flexibility and willingness to help wherever needed. She is instrumental in organizing and bidding out extracurricular trips, helping piece together the complex puzzle of transportation logistics so students can participate in activities beyond the classroom. Her reliability and teamwork help ensure these opportunities run smoothly for both students and staff.

Her commitment to student safety and well-being is evident in everything she does. Recently, while completing a drop-off, Amy noticed a vehicle that gave her an uneasy feeling and immediately notified local police to ensure students remained safe. Actions like this reflect her integrity, awareness, and dedication to lifelong learning as she continues to grow in her role and serve the students and families of London City Schools.
