During its Regular March 2026 meeting, the London City Schools Board of Education approved a revised 2026–2027 District Academic Calendar. The updated calendar moves the start of the school year back six days to better support families and improve alignment with transportation schedules across Madison County and neighboring districts. Under the revised calendar, the first day for students will be Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and the school year will conclude on Thursday, May 28, 2027.
The calendar also includes a full week break for Thanksgiving and places spring break one week later than in recent years. District officials made the adjustments after reviewing student attendance trends, academic calendars from surrounding school districts that impact shared transportation services, and a cost-benefit analysis related to professional development scheduling and transportation costs.
