The London Rotary Club is proud to recognize Freya Byrd, an exceptional senior at London High School, as the March Student of the Month. Freya exemplifies academic excellence, strong leadership, and outstanding character, qualities that make her a standout choice for this prestigious honor.
A dedicated and high-achieving student, Freya boasts an impressive 4.153 GPA and ranks 8th in her class. Her passion for learning, especially in the arts, sets her apart. She has been a consistent presence on the merit honor roll and is active in London's Performing Arts Program.
Freya has been an active member of London High School. In addition to her presence on the Merit Honor Roll, Freya has been an active participant in the school’s marching band for five years, where she served as the flute and clarinet section leader. She has been involved with the musical for one year backstage and two years acting. She is a three-year member of the Diversity Club and a two-year member of the National Technical Honors Society.
When asked to reflect on an educator who has significantly influenced her, Freya named London High School Instrumental Music Teacher, Mr. Ryan Freeman. Freya shared:
“Mr. Freeman inspires me to push myself to my limits and to be confident in all that I do. It is better to have failed with confidence than not to have tried at all.”
Mr. Freeman, in turn, offered glowing praise for Freya:
“Freya is an extremely hard-working and nurturing individual who dedicates her time to what she loves to do. She is involved in a variety of activities, including the fall play, spring musical, marching/pep band, as well as participating in the TOLLES program. Freya is a natural leader who understands how to communicate with her peers as well as her teachers. She cares deeply for those around her and really helps the underclassmen grow into themselves as they transition into high school. She always shows up to help with projects outside of school and is a huge help to our school and community. Freya is an exemplary student, and she deserves to be student of the month.”
After graduation, Freya intends to go to Columbus Community College to get her Associate’s Degree. She is the daughter of JT and Nikki Byrd of London.
