London Athletics Weekly Recap - January 19–31

Another busy stretch for London athletics, packed with big wins, milestones, and strong performances! 💪
🏊 Swimming
A huge stretch in the pool for London swimming! Congratulations to Griffin Lotton on being named CBC Boys Swimmer of the Year 🏆 Griffin won the 200 free and the 500 free for the third consecutive year. He also teamed with Gabe Scholl, James Thompson, and Caelan Mars to place 2nd in the 200 free relay and to win the 400 free relay. Caelan also notched a 2nd team finish in the 500 free and a Third Team All Conference in the 200 free. The boys' team placed 4th in the entire conference, despite having just five swimmers.
🎳 Bowling
Congratulations to Abby Wheeler, who bowled a PERFECT 300 game!
London bowling stayed busy with multiple matches, home and away. The Raiders competed against Kenton Ridge, Bellefontaine, Indian Lake, and Urbana, highlighted by a strong road victory over Urbana at HP State Lanes (2514–2213). Consistency and resilience showed as the team continued to improve lane by lane.
📣 Competition Cheerleading
A huge congratulations to London Cheer! The squad qualified for the STATE competition at Dublin Jerome, an incredible accomplishment and well-earned ticket to the big stage 🎉📣
🏀 Boys Basketball
The Red Raiders battled through a tough slate over the two weeks. London opened strong with an impressive 60–47 road win at Fairfield Union. Back home, London faced Bellefontaine and Tecumseh in close, hard-fought contests but came up short in both matchups. The stretch wrapped up with a challenging road game at Alder as the Raiders continue to gain experience and grind through the heart of the season.
🏀 Girls Basketball
The Lady Raiders were dominant. London cruised past Kenton Ridge 57–33 at home, then followed it up with a statement 74–18 road win over Tecumseh. The girls continue to roll with confidence as tournament time approaches 👊
🤼 Boys Wrestling
London wrestling delivered big moments on the mat.
• 1st place finish at Linden-McKinley, highlighted by Taven Huff earning his 100th career win 🎉
• Strong individual placings at Marion Pleasant from Brody Howard, Taven Huff, and Bryce Tinney as the Raiders prepare for postseason action.
