STEAM City Event

On Friday, May 2nd, London City Schools had a blast taking part in the City of London’s “How Do You S.T.E.A.M.?” event, which was part of the Big Science Celebration with COSI. This fun, hands-on event was open to the public, but it was also set up as a special field trip just for our second-grade students. The City of London was packed with cool exhibits and interactive stations from all kinds of local groups and organizations. Students got to check out booths from the London Public Library, Madison County EMA, Madison County Public Health, BCI, Savion, OSU Extension, London Correctional Institution, the City of London Fire Department, COSI, Madison Health, and of course our very own London Middle School Robotics team and London High School E-Sports team.

Our students stole the show! The middle school robotics team impressed everyone with their awesome robots and coding projects, showing off the creativity and problem-solving they’ve been working on all year. Meanwhile, the high school E-Sports team gave the crowd a peek into the exciting world of competitive gaming, where teamwork, strategy, and quick thinking are key. It was great for the second graders to see what they can look forward to as they move up through the schools.

This event wasn’t just a fun day out; it was a fantastic example of how schools, local organizations, and community partners can come together to spark curiosity and bring learning to life. London City Schools is proud to be part of events like this that give students real-world, hands-on experiences that go beyond the classroom and get them excited about science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
