Good Evening London Families -

This is Superintendent Lou Kramer with a special message. First, a word of thanks to all of our students, parents, and staff who have contributed to a positive start to the school year. It has been very rewarding to see our students back on campus.

Despite our positive start, we are reminded daily that our students are attending school during a pandemic. This week we recorded our first cases of COVID19 in our schools, four in the elementary school and two in the high school. I wanted to take a moment and highlight a couple of reminders regarding our district COVID plan:

  1. Most importantly, if your child is sick, please keep them home. If you suspect they have COVID19, please keep them home and get them tested;

  2. For each reported case of COVID19, the district is obligated to assist the health department in contact tracing. Those individuals who are identified as direct contacts of a confirmed case of COVID19 are subject to quarantine by the health department.

  3. The Ohio Department of Health does outline two ways individuals can avoid quarantine:

    1. If the individual does not have any symptoms and has received the COVID vaccination;

    2. If the individual does not have any symptoms and has consistently and properly worn a facial covering when exposed.

  4. As a reminder facial coverings are recommended for all individuals on campus but required only on school buses per CDC order. This being said, we are seeing an increase in the number of students and staff, especially athletes,  who are choosing to wear masks in order to avoid quarantine.

  5. Our COVID plan can be accessed by choosing COVID19 resources from the menu on the district’s homepage.

Believe me, I understand that there are many, many, passionate opinions about how schools should handle the pandemic. I hope disagreements can be expressed in an appropriate way and in the end, everyone works together for the betterment of our kids here in London.

Thank you for listening. Have a wonderful night.
