Dear London Families,
Thank you for your support as we start the new school year. It is very difficult to believe that the pandemic now has spanned parts of three school years. Each of us would like to return to normalcy, but we know that is simply not possible right now. Despite these challenges, our school year began well with our students being able to attend school every day on campus and also able to participate in other activities if they wish. Until the beginning of the pandemic, these were things we often took for granted.
We all understand that the coronavirus is present in our community and therefore will affect our schools. This week we began to see an increase in the number of COVID19 cases. As of today, we have nine (9) active cases of COVID19 in our district, which has resulted in 55 individuals being quarantined. To place this in perspective, we have approximately 2500 students and staff on our campus every school day. As a district we continue to review our classroom and school procedures daily to ensure we are doing our part to slow the spread of the virus.
Although right now our numbers are slightly better than other local districts, we need your help to combat the spread of the virus. I urge you as parents to continue partner with our schools in considering what you can do to help keep your child and others healthy. Simple strategies like keeping your child home when sick and being kind and understanding if they are required to quarantine can go a long way in the positive and efficient operation of our school district. I also highly encourage you to consider having your student wear a facial covering and get the vaccine if eligible. We will continue to monitor the trend of infections in our district and the availability of staff to ensure that we can operate effectively. Should our numbers increase considerably, the district will have to consider other strategies to combat the spread of the virus.

Going to school in a pandemic is not easy, and the realization that school is simply not the same as it was a few years ago is often frustrating. I would like to thank you for working with us to provide the best education possible during these difficult times.
