LHS student helping a LES student

High school interns completing their teaching internships at London Elementary are making a meaningful impact in kindergarten classrooms through the Once literacy program. After receiving specialized training in the research-based Science of Reading approach, these students are now working side by side with young learners to strengthen foundational reading skills. Their individualized support and focused practice time are helping kindergarten students build confidence as they develop early literacy skills.

Through their work with Once, the high school interns are gaining valuable, hands-on classroom experience while playing an important role in helping young students become strong readers. By supporting structured, intentional literacy instruction and providing additional one-on-one attention, these interns are not only growing as future educators but also helping ensure kindergarten students build the skills they need to become fluent, independent readers.
