London City Schools is excited to announce that London High School will officially field a Girls Flag Football team beginning in the spring of 2026. Interest among students has been exceptionally strong, with more than sixty middle and high school girls expressing a desire to participate in what is now the fastest-growing sport in the country. With the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) recently approving a state-sanctioned championship for girls’ flag football, the district looks forward to supporting the Red Raiders as they join this inaugural statewide effort. After formal Board approval in November, the athletic department is actively preparing for the season while continuing to support students involved in existing spring programs.

The program will launch as a club sport and will benefit from the U.S. Flag Football partnership with the Cleveland Browns, which will supply all necessary equipment and up to 25 Nike uniforms at no cost to the district. Student-athletes would only incur travel expenses related to competition. Of the 75 students surveyed in grades 7–12, 66 indicated interest, including 36 who are not currently involved in another spring sport. Volunteer coaches will receive training through Browns-hosted clinics ahead of the season, which begins February 23rd. With a 5v5 format and a 10-game regular season, the pathway includes regional tournaments and concludes with the Browns Championship and OHSAA State Championship in May. London High School is proud to expand opportunities for female athletes and looks forward to launching this exciting new program.
