London City Schools recently celebrated Purple Up Day during the Month of the Military Child, honoring children with parents from all branches of the military. Purple Up Day is a day that recognizes and appreciates the unique challenges and sacrifices that military children face as they support their military parents or guardians. On this day, students and staff wore purple, the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, as a show of solidarity and support for military children in the school community.

The London City School District is a five-year Purple Star Award recipient from the Ohio Department of Education, which recognizes schools that provide effective support to militarily-impacted families. The district has established a single point of contact for military families, launched a web page with helpful resources, revised enrollment forms to support families affected by deployments, and educated staff on the challenges our military-impacted students face every day.
