The London City School District Board of Education has approved Charles Thiel to serve as Interim Superintendent for the 2026-27 school year. The appointment was approved during the Board's meeting on June 22, 2026.
Thiel, who is concluding his tenure with Urbana City Schools after a total of 29 years of dedicated service, will assist London City Schools during the transition period as the district searches for its next permanent superintendent.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the London City School District and its community during this important time,” said Thiel. “I look forward to working alongside the Board of Education, staff, students, and families as the district completes the superintendent search process. My goal is to provide stability and support while helping ensure a smooth and successful transition.”
Throughout his career, Thiel has been committed to fostering student success, supporting educators, and building strong partnerships with communities. In his interim role, he will work closely with district leadership to maintain continuity and advance the district’s mission during the 2026-27 school year.
