Earlier this year, London City Schools partnered with SHP to conduct an Elementary Capacity Study examining how existing spaces are currently used and how they may need to evolve to support future instructional needs. The study evaluated both current and projected space utilization at London Elementary and provided several options for redesigning or reimagining instructional spaces to better align with the district’s educational programs. Community members can review the full Elementary Capacity Study here.
Acting on one of the study’s recommendations, the London City Schools Board of Education approved a plan in February to retrofit three existing elementary classrooms, two large rooms and one smaller room, into mobile support studios. These redesigned spaces will provide more flexible environments designed to support small group instruction and targeted learning activities.
The new classroom configurations are expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2026–2027 school year. A layout showing the design of the updated instructional spaces is also available for review here.
