Dear London Families,

Earlier this month, our community celebrated the opening of brand-new tennis courts on the campus of London Middle School, the latest project completed through our district’s master facility plan. Just as these courts are an investment in our community’s future, they also symbolize the progress we continue to make as a district. That same spirit of growth is reflected in the latest release of Ohio’s district report cards.

Ohio rates schools from one star (significantly below standards) to five stars (significantly above standards). This year, London City Schools earned an overall rating of 3.5 stars, meaning we are meeting state expectations. While this is the same rating the district received last year, the fact that we improved in two of the six rating areas and maintained in the others shows that we are steadily moving closer to exceeding those expectations.

District report card highlights include:

  • A fifth consecutive year of growth in our performance index, which measures student achievement across all state tests.

  • Our best results yet in student academic growth.

  • Continued gains in closing educational gaps among student groups.

  • A 5-star graduation rate, with an impressive 97.4% of students graduating.

  • A strong attendance rate, maintaining the large improvements we saw last school year.

At the individual school level:

  • London High School earned a 4-star rating (Above Expectations)

  • London Elementary School earned a 4-star rating (Above Expectations)

  • London Middle School earned a 2.5-star rating (Below Expectations, but making improvements)

While we are proud of these results, we know there is more work to do, especially in the areas of early literacy and middle school performance. Both remain top priorities in our improvement efforts.

To support this work, we are currently engaged in a recalibration of our district’s strategic plan. The purpose of this process is to ensure that we remain responsive to both the challenges and opportunities of our growing community. This recalibration will allow us to:

  • Engage families, students, staff, and community members in planning.

  • Address emerging challenges while building on our strengths.

  • Keep our goals focused on long-term sustainability, innovation, and preparing students for life after graduation.

A tennis match is not won with a single powerful swing but through steady, deliberate points earned over time. In the same way, each improvement, investment, and new opportunity moves us closer to lasting success. Together, we are building momentum that will carry London City Schools well beyond this year’s results.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lou Kramer

District Superintendent
