restart status 11--30-2020

Due to the rise in COVID19 cases across the county, state, and nation, Madison County Health Director, Chris Cook, ordered all schools in Madison County to implement a hybrid learning model beginning after the Thanksgiving holiday. The order extends until at least February 5th. You may read a copy of the health department order here.

Accordingly, all London City Schools will begin to implement the district’s hybrid learning plan.

  • Students with last names beginning with letters A-K will attend on campus instruction on Mondays and Thursdays (Red Days).

  • Students with last names beginning with letters L-Z will attend on campus instruction on Tuesdays and Fridays (White Days).

  • Wednesday will be a virtual instruction day for all students facilitated through Google Classroom.

By employing a Monday/Thursday, Tuesday/Friday, and Wednesday virtual model, less students may be exposed to a positive case. This should greatly limit the number of students who may need to be quarantined or isolated. For middle school and high school students, this will be a return to how instruction was provided during the 1st quarter.

A few other important reminders:

  1. Special Education: Students who are receiving special education services will be prioritized for on campus instruction. Special education teachers will notify parents directly if a child’s schedule will be affected.

  2. Food Service: Three and Five day Raider Rack Food Sacks will be packaged for pick up on Wednesday’s from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm. You must sign up prior to pick up by contacting Teresa Murry at 740-852-5700, ext. 3025 or teresa.murry@london.k12.oh.us. If Wednesday pick up time is a hardship, another time arrangement may be possible. Families are asked to pull behind London High School to the rear kitchen entrance. Please remain in your vehicle and Food Service Personnel will assist you.

  3. Transportation: Transportation will not be affected, although with a lower number of students attending school each day, buses may run slightly ahead of schedule.

  4. Technology (Device Lending for LES): LCS personnel will be contacting all LES families, who borrowed a device during the statewide shut down last school year to determine if this is still a need.

  5. Technology (Connectivity): Thanks to a recently received Ohio Broadband Connectivity Grant, London City School District has expanded free, outdoor wifi, which is available anywhere on our campus to our community. In addition, our district is continuing our Hotspot Pilot program for any economically disadvantaged family, who does not live in an area with available internet access. Please contact Julia Smith (julia.smith@london.k12.oh.us) for more information.

  6. Raider Remote Students: Current, Raider Remote students are unaffected and will remain in RR until at least the beginning of the 2nd semester.

  7. Champions Wrap Around Child Care: Child care may be available for PreK-5 students on non attendance days. Please contact our Champions Site Coordinator, Sheri Parquette, at spaquette@discoverchampions.com to inquire.

  8. Families with Multiple Last Names: Similar to our procedure during the first quarter for LMS and LHS students, LES families with multiple students, who have different last names, and are scheduled to attend on campus classes on different days are encouraged to complete our LCS Household Survey.

Prior to November 30th, each individual school will be providing additional clarifying information for families.

The district continues to thank families for their continued flexibility and understanding as we work to best serve our students during this challenging time.
