London Mourns the Loss of Longtime Coach and Supporter Bill Birmele

London lost a stalwart supporter and one of its own recently as Coach Bill Birmele lost his long battle with cancer. Coach Birm held many positions at London City Schools including Freshman Football Coach, Assistant Basketball Coach, and most recently as the district’s Head Bowling Coach. Bill cared deeply for London and for the athletes he coached and only stepped away from coaching a few weeks ago, when his health prohibited him from continuing.

Coach Birmele was a Red Raider through and through and always had a positive attitude and outlook on any situation. Those who never met him personally may remember his smile and optimism as he worked the main gate during football games for the last several years. Keeping with his interest in positively influencing young people, Coach Birm also officiated a number of youth and OHSAA contests for many years.

Coach Birm will be sorely missed by many at LCS.
