A Message from Mr. Browning
2020/2021 LOOKING for the positive
London High School Families,
Many things have changed since March 12, 2020, when we were telling people entering the musical that we could only have 99 people in attendance and that meant "immediate" family only. The following week saw schools shut down across the state, not to reopen for the school year. We held our 2020 Graduation Ceremony in a way never imagined. The seniors had a parade through town before coming back to campus to receive the diploma they had worked hard for. Next came mandatory masks, social distancing, physical distancing, one-way hallways, stickers and signs around the building to remind us not to get close to each other, and finally Raider Remote for those families who wanted to continue online learning--an idea that would have been so roundly defeated as a crazy option just one year ago.
Now, we have learned to live with these short-term normals that we are dealing with just so we can continue to educate the students of London. We are proud of the steps the teachers have taken to make this school year possible. They have navigated through uncertainty to open the building with a positive mindset and a refreshed sense of purpose in teaching. Whether your child is learning in-person or remote, we believe the plans we have implemented are ones that will allow all of our students to find success. We are excited to see our student-athletes on the fields, courses, and courts. We look forward to listening to the band at half-time. We plan to produce a great fall play in November. And, above all else, education is continuing.
Student success is our mission and we will continue to offer courses that will challenge our students and help them grow as people as they prepare themselves for the world around them. In 2020, LHS was named a U.S. News and World Report Best High School. We are very proud of our staff and most importantly our students for this distinction. Everyone at LHS has worked hard the last few years to improve in every facet of our building and operations. This award shows that gradual, sustained improvements will get us to the results we desire. We will continue to push for greater success in ourselves and our students in 2020/2021 and beyond.
I look forward to a great school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at LHS.
