London Becomes Playoff Central This Week
London residents and students are getting a good dose of the OHSAA playoffs this week as the district is directly involved with several postseason contests. The week began with Bowlus Field playing host to state semi final soccer action on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. On Tuesday, November 6th the girls from Cincinnati Country Day downed the ladies from Bishop Rosecrans 7-0 to earn a spot in the Division III State Finals. The next evening, hundreds of fans were in attendance as London played host to the Division III boys semifinals as Dayton Christian won a nail biter to advance over Grandview Heights. The playoff atmosphere switches from soccer to football on Friday evening as thousands are expected to be on hand for a showdown in the Division I regional football semifinals as Springfield takes on Hilliard Davidson
By hosting playoff contests, LCS is keeping a commitment made to the community for supporting the installation of field turf at Bowlus Field in 2016. Proceeds from the event will be earmarked for the maintenance and eventual replacement of the high school track and football field. It is also hoped that with an influx of thousands of fans visiting the community this week, local businesses will benefit.
While Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday will be exciting for out of town fans, nothing will excite the community more than when the Red Raider Football team takes on the Clinton Massie Falcons at Miami Trace High School this Saturday. Coming off an impressive victory in the first round at Cincinnati Taft, Coach Cutler and the boys will bring an exciting week to a close and represent the Red and White with pride.
