LCS Launches Big Brothers Big Sisters Chapter
LCS Launches Big Brothers Big Sisters ChapterBig Brothers Big Sisters of Springfield and London City Schools are partnering in a School-based Mentoring Program that will match volunteers from the community and high school students with elementary students. The mission of the School-based Mentoring program is to empower students for success through strong mentoring relationships. The program officially began Tuesday January 31st, with students meeting their mentors during the students' lunch/recess time.

Student Support Specialist Melissa Canney said, "It is wonderful to see a collaboration of the elementary and high schools, the community and a non profit coming together to benefit young people. We are happy to bring such a credible and positive program to London City Schools and thank the Big Brother Big Sister organization for their support." The Big Brother Big Sister organization will have a staff member on site to facilitate and supervise each session.
