LCS Board Green Lights Tribute to Mrs. Daniels

The London Board of Education approved a proposal from a committee of current and retired educators along with a few select community members to raise and donate funds for a monument in honor of Carol Daniels. The monument, which will be located on the northwest of the flag poles at London Elementary, will be approximately 6' high and will open like a storybook. Inside the “storybook” will be a description of Carol’s life and contributions to London City Schools during her forty year career.

The committee has committed to raising all of the funds needed for the monument and its installation through private donations. It is hoped that the monument could be dedicated next September during the 2nd annual "Lemonade Day," which celebrates Mrs. Daniel’s mantra of “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” Those interested in contributing may send donations in the name of Carol Daniels Memorial Project to the district’s central office. You can follow the progress of the project on twitter @danielsmemorial.

About Carol Daniels

Carol Daniels was hired as an elementary teacher in the London City School District in 1976. She briefly left the district to become an administrator at Dohron Wilson Elementary School in Mechanicsburg at the end of the 1987 - 1988 school year. Carol returned quickly to LCS as an elementary principal in August of 1989, a position she held for the past 28 years. During her time with the district Carol worked with dozens of administrators, hundreds of staff members, and served as a role model to thousands of students many of whom still reside in London. Carol was recognized as Jennings Scholar in 1987, but it was her tireless advocacy for the kids of London, which set her apart. While her loss was great, so was her contribution to the London City School District and community.
