January Board of Education Organizational and Regular Meeting Recap for January 8th, 2019
The London City School Board of Education met on Tuesday, January 8th for its organizational meeting and first regular meeting of 2018. During the organizational meeting, the Board elected Darryl Brown and Jonathan Stahl to remain as President and Vice President, respectively, for 2019. The Board established the following regular meeting dates for 2019: January 8th, February 12th, March 12th, April 9th, May 14th, June 25th, July 9th, August 6th, September 10th, October 8th, November 5th, and December 10th. All regular meetings are scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm and will be held at London High School in room 311.

During the meeting, Mr. Brown made the following Board appointments:
  • Mr. Cooper as delegate to the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Annual Conference (Mr. Stahl will serve as alternate); and
  • Mr. Maynor as legislative liaison to OSBA.

Finally, the Board approved the following committee appointments:

  • Mr. Cooper as the Board Representative to the District’s Safety Committee.
  • Mr. Hohman as the Tax Committee Liaison;
  • Mr Brown and Mr. Maynor will serve as representatives to the London City Schools Foundation Board;
  • Mr. Cooper and Mr. Maynor will serve as representatives for the Business Advisory Council;
  • Mr. Stahl and Mr. Hohman as representatives to the district’s Facilities and Finance Committee; and,
  • Mr. Stahl as the OSBA Region Chapter Liaison.

During the regular meeting, the Board heard an update from Superintendent Kramer regarding the process of updating the district’s safety plan. Improvements including the addition of door barricades for each classroom and adding MARCs radios in each school/office are planned for the spring. 

A few highlights of other Board action included:

  • Read revisions on 14 policies including: 2111, 2261, 2261.01, 2261.03, 2370.01, 4162, 5610, 5610.02, 5610.03, 5611, 6320, 6325, 6423, and 8141. These will be uploaded to the district’s policy portal within the next month. You can access all district policies here.
  • Conducted a first reading of the LMS Course Guide for 2019-2020;
  • Approved the final reading of the LHS Course Guide for 2019-2020;
  • Approved revisions of the 2019-2020 Academic Calendar;
  • Established a public hearing date of next month’s regular meeting for the 2020-2021 academic calendar.  
  • Accepted a gift from the Class of 2019 of three water bottle refill stations.
