UPDATED: London FFA Soil Team Qualifies for State, Places 38th
The London FFA soil team participated in the district competition last Thursday, the 27th of September. Out of 21 teams participating in the Career Development Event, London received fifth overall and qualified for the state competition. Cade Smith was ranked tenth individually in the district, out of 107 contestants. Luke Peart placed twelth, Nick Berchtold 25th, and Brooks Barber was rated 27th. During the contest, FFA members evaluate soil characteristics, such as structures,  textures, and limitations, then determine what best management practices are necessary for the selected land. The State competition is October thirteenth and the London team will be competing against other FFA soil teams from all across the state.
UPDATE: The London FFA soil judging team competed in the Ohio Agricultural State Soil Career Development Event on Saturday, 13 October at the Dawes Arboretum. Nearly 50 teams from all over the state participated with London taking 38th. This is the first time in over four years that London has qualified for the state competition. London participants include Luke Peart, who placed 52nd, Brooks Barber, 145th, Nicholas Berchtold, 156th, and Cade Smith, 166th.
