Michael Browning Tapped to Lead London High School
The London City School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Michael Browning as the next Principal of London High School. Mr. Browning has served as the London High School Assistant Principal for the last two and a half years. Besides his duties as assistant principal, Michael also helped launch London Unlimited, the district’s hybrid learning program. Piloted during the 2016-2017 school year, and launched in earnest this past year, London Unlimited has grown to provide personalized learning options for 80 students or about 12% of the LHS student population. Prior to joining the district in 2016, Michael taught for twelve years as part of the Hamilton Township School District with experiences at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels.

Browning was recommended for the position after interviewing with a district focus group which included representatives of the Board of Education, administration, teaching and support staffs, and the community. Michael’s educational preparation includes two Master’s Degrees including a degree in Educational Administration from Ohio University and one in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix. Michael also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from The Ohio State University.

Anxious to begin his new duties, Mr. Browning remarked, “I am honored to be chosen as the next London High School principal. One thing that makes London so appealing is the unlimited possibilities the city and schools hold. We have everything that a school should need to be great; great facilities, a mixture of veteran teachers willing to lead and younger teachers who want to make an impact, district leadership that allows us to educate our students to the fullest, and an energetic student body who sees value in their education. These positives will allow us to continue growth and meet the challenges that lie ahead.”

District Superintendent Lou Kramer noted that Michael’s prior experience, demonstrated initiative, focus on relationships, and commitment to the district matches very well with the current needs of the building. “I am very excited to have Michael in place as the leader of London High School. I believe he has a unique perspective of the strengths and needs of our school and the experience and demeanor to lead LHS successfully.”

Browning replaces Chad Eisler, who left the district to become the Superintendent of Madison Plains Local School District. Selection for a new assistant principal has already begun and is expected to be finished by early July.
