October Board of Education Meeting Recap
The London City School Board of Education met on Tuesday, October 8th for its regular monthly meeting. The Board began the meeting by recognizing student achievement at London Elementary School and the school’s efforts in creating a “Ring of Honor” for students who have demonstrated outstanding student achievement. You can see the highlights of these efforts in this video. London Middle School took the school spotlight this month and highlighted the school’s London Rocks program. Led by LMS teacher Kirsten Witt, the program involves students and community members participating in after school rock painting, the creation of a rock river outside the school, and rock walks around the community.
During her treasurer discussion, Ms. Blind discussed the district’s annual audit was wrapping up and briefed the Board on the pending five year forecast, which will be presented next month.
During his superintendent’s remarks, Dr. Kramer deferred to Josh Predovich, a project manager for SHP, who recently completed a site master planning process, which involved several stakeholder groups. The site plan was in response to rising district enrollment and was proposed in order to provide options for district facilities for the foreseeable future. Some of the recommendations included options for additions to instructional space at LHS and LES, expansion of parking for the east campus, a new entranceway for the campus from Keny Road, and options for a new athletic facility. SHP will include the information in a final packet for the Board within a month. This issue will remain a talking point for the future as the district monitors enrollment and district needs.

Highlights of other Board action taken during the meeting:

Approved a list of district sponsored clubs for the 2019-2020 school year;

Approved a revised contract with Madison County Public Health to add an additional district nurse using new state success and wellness funds;
