Viewing and funeral arrangements have been finalized to remember longtime LES Principal Carol Daniels for early next week. Calling hours will be held Monday evening in the London High School Gymnasium from 4 - 7 pm. Grief counselors will be on site and located in the high school guidance offices if needed. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning in the high school gymnasium at 10 am. After the service, all in attendance will be invited to the football field for a balloon launch in Carol's memory. There will be a funeral procession to Somerford Cemetery following the balloon launch.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either London City Schools (380 Elm Street, London, Ohio 43140) or the London Public Library (20 East First Street, London, Ohio 43140). If making a donation to London City Schools, please note “In Memory of Carol Daniels” in the memo line, so that funds can be earmarked to support the district’s academic boosters.

Carol was an integral part of this district and our community. On behalf of Jerry and her family, thank you for all of your well wishes, thoughts, prayers, and help in celebrating her life.

Dear Friends of London City Schools,

It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Carol Daniels. Carol was hired as an elementary teacher in the London City School District in 1976. She briefly left the district to become an administrator at Dohron Wilson Elementary School in Mechanicsburg at the end of the 1986 - 1987 school year. Carol returned quickly to LCS as an elementary principal in August of 1987, a position she held for the past 30 years. During her time with the district Carol worked with dozens of administrators, hundreds of staff members, and served as a role model to thousands of students many of whom still reside in London. Carol was recognized as Jennings Scholar in 1987, but it was her tireless advocacy for the kids of London, which set her apart.

One of the goals of our district is to constantly improve the “user experience” of our schools. Simply put, we want your interactions and the interactions of your student at school to be as positive as possible. As a parent or caregiver of a child who attends our school district, your opinion is very important to us. I would like to ask you to please take just a few moments and complete the enclosed survey sharing your opinions. If you would like, you may also take the survey anonymously online at http://www.london.k12.oh.us/Parents.aspx. Survey responses will be accepted until Tuesday, December 20, 2016.
