As London Middle School (LMS) moves forward into the 2018-2019 school year, let us take a moment to reflect upon some of what LMS has accomplished. LMS continues to provide students with a 1:1 program, offers paperless interims and report cards for parents, adopted a new online math and ELA curriculum, have labs based on Google's Genius Hour, gives High School Credit options in geometry, algebra, art, band, and physical education. Also, we host an annual community Life Fair, provide a Youth Suicide Prevention Program, partner with the London Public Library’s nationally recognized READ campaign, and acknowledge over 120 students of the month annually through our Positive Behavior Intervention Program (PBIS), Unity Day celebration to end the school year, to name a few.
This year we will continue to strive to create even more authentic and innovative learning opportunities for students by offering additional opportunities during lab and intervention during the school day. For example, the introduction of "NEW" S.T.E.M programs during lab hours; Lab opportunities in Automation & Robotics, Design & Modeling, and App Creator. Moreover, to support those S.T.E.M related labs, core, and related arts courses LMS will see the transformation of its Media Center to a Makerspace. In this Makerspace student will have access to cutting-edge technology, such as 3D printers, state of the art touch screen PCs with 3D builder software, Vex Robots, and much more.
Furthermore, every student will have a 23 min A.I.M period (Advise, Intervene, and Motivate) where teachers are required to go over grades, assignments, attendance, and to develop further solidified relationships with the students.
