London FFA Recognized as National 3 Star Chapter at Annual FFA Convention

The London FFA traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana from October 24th to the 27th for the 91st National FFA Convention & Expo. Over 65,000 FFA members and guests attended. 17 members of the London FFA attended including, Nick Berchtold, Ryan Peterman, Luke Peart, DJ Covert, Hayden Covert, Jake O'Neil, Cade Smith, Brooks Barber, Olivia Rhinesmith, Lexi Daily, Sydney Pollard, Brooke Stoner, Alli Moore, Addison Leach, Sarah Oney, Emma Gaston, Brooklyn Sims, and adviser Dana Snyder.

Recent Grads Help Educate Staff at November Professional Development Day

Don’t give up on us. The message was simple but powerful. With this statement, 2015 LHS graduate Ashley Wilhoit helped provide perspective for the LCS staff during the district’s November #londonpossible staff learning day. During her 10 minute talk, Ashley shared her high school challenges and post graduation triumphs. She, along with 2014 graduate Sarra Taylor, were asked to speak for a few minutes about the district’s core value of “dealing in hope.” Each young woman, provided a wonderful message on how LCS supported them during their high school years and how the district still holds some influence in their lives today.

London Becomes Playoff Central This Week

London residents and students are getting a good dose of the OHSAA playoffs this week as the district is directly involved with several postseason contests. The week began with Bowlus Field playing host to state semifinal soccer action on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. On Tuesday, November 6th the girls from Cincinnati Country Day downed the ladies from Bishop Rosecrans 7-0 to earn a spot in the Division III State Finals. The next evening, hundreds of fans were in attendance as London played host to the Division III boys semifinals as Dayton Christian won a nail biter to advance over Grandview Heights. The playoff atmosphere switches from soccer to football on Friday evening as thousands are expected to be on hand for a showdown in the Division I regional football semifinals as Springfield takes on Hilliard Davidson

November 2018 Board of Education Regular Meeting Recap

Board Congratulates Collwell, Thanks Eades, Learns about Computer Science, and Hears About Enrollment
The London City School District met in regular session on Tuesday, November 6th, 2018. The meeting began with a special recognition for senior Malorie Collwell. Besides excelling in the classroom, Malorie earned numerous All MSL honors and state recognition in basketball and volleyball. Mallorie recorded her 1,000 career “dig” this season and fittingly was recognized at the meeting alongside her coach, Darryl Eades. Coach Eades was presented a lifetime athletic pass for his contributions during his 21 year coaching career at the London City School District. Coach Eades served as the head volleyball coach for the last 19 years, during which time he compiled a record of 245 wins and 139 losses. His teams won six league championships including a run of 50 straight league victories between 2014 and 2017. Coach Eades’ teams qualified for districts four seasons and finished as  district runner-up three times. During his illustrious career, he also earned OHSAA Central District Coach of the Year honors. Both Mallorie and Coach Eades were recognized and thanked for their contributions to the district.
